Inefficient resource allocation is associated with reduced alpha activity in parietal regions in individuals with Parkinson's disease

Jan Weber et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify resource allocation to relevant and irrelevant stimuli in patients affected by PD. Results showed that patients with PD had faster response latencies to irrelevant stimuli, but slower response latencies to target stimuli, indicating inefficient resource allocation in inhibitory control. Additionally, reduced parietal alpha activity in patients with PD suggests less functional inhibition compared to healthy controls, leading to inefficient resource allocation in patients with PD.

Alterations in event-related potential responses to empathy for pain in Parkinson's disease on and off medication

Panpan Hu et al.

Summary: This study utilized ERP techniques to investigate the temporal dynamics of empathic responses in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), finding deficits in both affective and cognitive empathic responses associated with PD. Dopaminergic medication may have the potential to alleviate these deficits.
