Colloidal Quantum Dots as Platforms for Quantum Information Science

Cherie R. Kagan et al.

Summary: Colloidal quantum dots are nanoscale semiconductor crystals that can be dispersed in solvents and have controllable optical transitions. Their quantum confinement effects allow for manipulation of charge and spin states, providing opportunities for creating systems with robust quantum states. These quantum dots can be integrated into devices to serve as platforms for quantum information science.

Coherent Spin Dynamics of Electrons and Holes in CsPbBr3 Colloidal Nanocrystals

Philipp S. Grigoryev et al.

Summary: The spin dynamics of electrons and holes in CsPbBr3 lead halide perovskite nanocrystals were studied using picosecond pump-probe Faraday rotation in an external magnetic field. The study revealed coherent Larmor precession of electrons and holes, as well as longitudinal spin relaxation in weak magnetic fields. Additionally, the impact of nuclear spin fluctuations on carrier spin dynamics was also explored.

Optical Probing of Crystal Lattice Configurations in Single CsPbBr3 Nanoplatelets

Alexander Schmitz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the luminescence and crystal structure of CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets using polarization-resolved spectroscopy at liquid helium temperature, revealing the existence of two distinct crystal configurations in the nanoplatelets. The absolute orientation of individual nanoplatelets on the substrate can be determined purely by optical means.

Chiral-induced spin selectivity enables a room-temperature spin light-emitting diode

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: Traditional optoelectronic approaches rely on both electrical and magnetic fields to control spin, charge, and light, while the use of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) technology allows for the fabrication of a spin-LED that operates at room temperature without the need for magnetic fields or ferromagnetic contacts.

Coherent vibrational dynamics reveals lattice anharmonicity in organic-inorganic halide perovskite nanocrystals

Tushar Debnath et al.

Summary: The study reveals that halide ions in organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites can influence the lattice vibrations of nanocrystals, leading to different coherent vibronic wave packets generation. Additionally, it shows that the PbI64- unit in FAPbI(3) nanocrystals can vibrate more freely compared to FAPbBr(3) nanocrystals, resulting in higher harmonics of fundamental modes. This intrinsic anharmonicity in the lead-halide framework plays a key role in the stability and energy transfer of perovskites.

The Vibrational and Thermodynamic Properties of CsPbI3 Polymorphs: An Improved Description Based on the SCAN meta-GGA Functional

Jakub Kaczkowski et al.

Summary: The study of CsPbI3 polymorphs using density functional theory revealed that the SCAN meta-GGA approximation is more effective in explaining the properties compared to the LDA. The results showed negative formation enthalpies for all polymorphs at room temperature within the SCAN framework, and a phase transition in CsPbI3 at 480K. Additionally, no ferroelectric instability was observed in the phonon spectra of the cubic and tetragonal phases at the meta-GGA level, which aligns with the lack of ferroelectricity in CsPbI3.
