Galaxy velocity bias in cosmological simulations: towards per cent-level calibration

Dhayaa Anbajagane et al.

Summary: Researchers have calibrated the velocity bias by comparing galaxy and dark matter velocity dispersions from different simulations, and found that it varies with host halo mass, redshift, and galaxy stellar mass threshold. They demonstrate that dynamical mass estimation is comparable to weak lensing mass estimation in terms of accuracy.

Shocks in the stacked Sunyaev-Zel'dovich profiles of clusters II: Measurements from SPT-SZ plus Planck Compton-y map

D. Anbajagane et al.

Summary: In this study, we searched for the signature of cosmological shocks in the stacked gas pressure profiles of galaxy clusters. The analysis of data from the South Pole Telescope revealed two features: a pressure deficit and a sharp decrease in pressure, both consistent with shock-induced thermal non-equilibrium and accretion shocks. These features were observed in all cases, regardless of redshift and mass, and exhibited no significant differences along and across the cluster major axis.

Refined modelling of the radio SZ signal: kinematic terms, relativistic temperature corrections, and anisotropies in the radio background

Elizabeth Lee et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the radio Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect caused by the cosmological radio background. The authors propose easily calculable kinematic and relativistic temperature corrections to this effect and discuss how it affects the spectrum of the radio SZ effect in different cases. By measuring the SZ signal around the radio null, constraints can be placed on the properties of the cosmological radio background, and combining it with SZ measurements from large cluster samples could help break degeneracies between different contributions.

THE THREE HUNDRED project: The GIZMO-SIMBA run

Weiguang Cui et al.

Summary: We introduce GIZMO-SIMBA, a new suite of galaxy cluster simulations within THE THREE HUNDRED project. Comparing to THE THREE HUNDRED zooms run with GADGET-X, GIZMO-SIMBA generally provides a good match to available data at z approximate to 0. GIZMO-SIMBA's unique black hole growth and feedback model yields agreement with the observed BH scaling relations.

Measurement of the Relativistic Sunyaev-Zeldovich Correction in RX J1347.5-1145

Victoria L. Butler et al.

Summary: This study presents a measurement of the relativistic corrections to the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect spectrum towards the massive galaxy cluster RX J1347.5-1145 by combining submillimeter images from Herschel-SPIRE with millimeter wavelength Bolocam maps. The methodology simultaneously models the SZ effect signal, the population of cosmic infrared background galaxies, and the galactic cirrus dust emission, providing insight into intracluster medium (ICM) physics and informing X-ray temperature calibration.

Inverse-Compton scattering of the cosmic infrared background

Alina Sabyr et al.

Summary: The study conducted the first calculation of a tSZ-like distortion in the Cosmic Infrared Background (CIB), using a halo model approach to calculate the CIB signal and the Compton-y field. It was found that the distortion to the CIB spectrum has two null frequencies, and future experiments are expected to detect this distortion signal.

Summary: In this study, we present a tomographic measurement of the cross-correlation between thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (TSZ) maps and weak galaxy lensing shears. By analyzing the data, we find a high statistical significance of 21 sigma, providing evidence for strong active galactic nuclei feedback and gas ejection.

Cross-correlation of Dark Energy Survey Year 3 lensing data with ACT and Planck thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect observations. II. Modeling and constraints on halo pressure profiles

S. Pandey et al.

Summary: In this study, we present tomographic measurements and validation tests of the cross-correlation between galaxy shear and tSZ effect. We find evidence for reduced pressure in low-mass halos, consistent with predictions for the effects of feedback from active Galactic nuclei. Our measurements also suggest a nonzero redshift evolution of the hydrostatic mass bias, which can explain the mass bias necessary to reconcile cluster count measurements with the Planck-preferred cosmology.

Percent-level constraints on baryonic feedback with distortion measurements

Leander Thiele et al.

Summary: High-significance measurements of the monopole thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich cosmic microwave background spectral distortions have the potential to tightly constrain poorly understood baryonic feedback processes. By utilizing hydrodynamic simulations and machine learning, we explore possible constraints on parameters describing feedback from active galactic nuclei and supernovae, which is of great significance.

The Resolved Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Profiles of Nearby Galaxy Groups

Cameron T. Pratt et al.

Summary: The study presents resolved Sunyaev-Zel'dovich profiles for 10 nearby galaxy groups, indicating baryons being driven to large distances, and a stacked profile consistent with simulations including AGN feedback. The best-fit model suggests a baryon fraction of approximately 5.6% within R-500, significantly lower than the cosmic value, supporting the idea of baryons being pushed to large radii by AGN feedback. Additionally, a significant bump feature near 2 R-500, likely the signature of internal accretion shocks, was discovered.
