Development and Analysis of a Hydroxyapatite Supplemented Calcium Silicate Cement for Endodontic Treatment

David Yong et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop an endodontic cement using bovine bone-derived hydroxyapatite (BHA), Portland cement (PC), and a radiopacifier. The results showed that the addition of 10% and 20% BHA improved the mechanical strength of the cement while maintaining similar radiopacity and biocompatibility to ProRoot MTA. This study is important for enhancing the properties of endodontic cements.

Synthesis and Characterization of Titanium Oxide Nanoparticles with a Novel Biogenic Process for Dental Application

Afsheen Mansoor et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel GIC restorative material using TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by Bacillus subtilis for the treatment of dental caries. The results showed that 5% TiO2-GIC was the most effective in treating dental caries without cytotoxic effects. Furthermore, increasing the concentration of TiO2 nanoparticles improved the compressive strength and flexural strength of GIC.

Effect of Nanostructures on the Properties of Glass Ionomer Dental Restoratives/Cements: A Comprehensive Narrative Review

Faiza Amin et al.

Summary: The literature reports on the overall perspective of nanotechnology and reinforcement of dental biomaterials by nanoparticles, but there is a lack of research on the reinforcement of dental biomaterials incorporating various nanostructures. This review focuses on current developments of glass ionomer cements (GICs) after incorporating different types of nanostructures, suggesting that most nanostructures could enhance mechanical strength and antibacterial activity, but clinical translation and applications are still missing.

Flexible Bicolorimetric Polyacrylamide/Chitosan Hydrogels for Smart Real-Time Monitoring and Promotion of Wound Healing

Kaikai Zheng et al.

Summary: The study presents multifunctional hydrogels for real-time monitoring of wound healing, which can detect pH level, reduce bacterial infection, and promote wound healing simultaneously. The hybridization of CQDs and pH indicator with the hydrogels allows for high responsiveness and accurate indication of pH variability, enabling real-time evaluation of wound conditions. These hydrogels have potential as a smart and flexible wound dressing platform for theranostic skin regeneration.

Magnesium Oxide-Assisted Dual-Cross-Linking Bio-Multifunctional Hydrogels for Wound Repair during Full-Thickness Skin Injuries

Xiaoduo Tang et al.

Summary: The bio-multifunctional hydrogel CCOD-MgO accelerates wound healing through a double cross-linking mechanism, exhibiting high tissue adhesion, self-repair capabilities, and low swelling rate. In vitro experiments show that CCOD-MgO has higher adhesion strength and antibacterial properties compared to other hydrogels, effectively protecting wounds from infection.

Biomimetic Glycopolypeptide Hydrogels with Tunable Adhesion and Microporous Structure for Fast Hemostasis and Highly Efficient Wound Healing

Lin Teng et al.

Summary: Two kinds of coordinated and covalent glycopolypeptide hydrogels with tunable tissue adhesion strength and microporous structure were fabricated. The microporous size mainly controls hemostasis, with hydrogels with larger pores achieving the fastest hemostasis and lowest blood loss. Overall, the glycopolypeptide hydrogels showed superior healing functions in animal models, with full wound closure and regeneration of dermis and epidermis with hair follicles.
