New insights into the capture performance and mechanism of hazardous metals Cr3+ and Cd2+ onto an effective layered double hydroxide based material

Sidi Zhu et al.

Summary: The phosphonate functionalized layered double hydroxide proved to be an excellent adsorbent for capturing toxicant metal ions, with a maximum adsorption capacity dominated by chemisorption and monolayer interaction. In addition, the spent adsorbent showed satisfactory reusability after multiple cycles, and Forcite simulation suggested electrostatic interaction as a critical mechanism for modifiers and the surface sites of the interlayer.

A Novel Low-Cost Bio-Sorbent Prepared from Crisp Persimmon Peel by Low-Temperature Pyrolysis for Adsorption of Organic Dyes

Lu-Qing Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, biochar prepared from crisp persimmon peel (CPP) using flash-vacuum pyrolysis showed high adsorption capacity and selectivity for cationic dyes. The adsorption process followed a linear pseudo-second-order kinetics and was well described by the linear Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption was spontaneous and endothermic, with electrostatic and hydrogen bonding interactions playing important roles. CPP biochar demonstrated excellent regeneration characteristics, making it a green, sustainable, highly efficient, and recyclable adsorbent for selective removal of cationic organic dyes.
