Magnetic implants in vivo guiding sorafenib liver delivery by superparamagnetic solid lipid nanoparticles

Rosa Maria Iacobazzi et al.

Summary: In this study, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) co-encapsulating superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and sorafenib were used for magnetic-guided drug delivery to the liver. Experimental and simulation analyses showed the impact of magnetic field topology on SLNP accumulation in liver tissues, with the magnet configuration resulting in higher magnetic targeting efficiency determined by evaluating iron content in liver tissues. These findings demonstrated the potential of using magnetic configurations to enhance drug delivery efficiency to specific target tissues such as the liver.

Lipid Nanoparticles as Carriers for Bioactive Delivery

Neerupma Dhiman et al.

Summary: Nanotechnology has significantly impacted industries like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food, and cosmetics, especially in improving the solubility and bioavailability of lipophilic drugs. Various nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems, such as solid lipid nanoparticulate drug delivery systems and emulsion-based nanodrug delivery systems, play crucial roles in the targeted delivery of poorly soluble drugs. This review provides a comprehensive overview of lipid nanoparticles as carriers of bioactive molecules, covering aspects like synthesis, characterization, advantages, disadvantages, toxicity, and applications in the medical field. Recent developments in patents and clinical trials related to solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) and nanostructure lipid carriers (NLCs) are also discussed.

Tumor Immune Microenvironment and Immunosuppressive Therapy in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Review

Kyoko Oura et al.

Summary: Liver cancer, specifically hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), has the fourth highest mortality rate among all cancers worldwide. Despite advancements in systemic therapy, HCC still has a poor prognosis due to drug resistance, recurrence, and metastasis. Recent therapeutic strategies, such as cancer immunosuppressive therapy utilizing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and VEGF inhibitors, have shown promise in extending the lives of patients with advanced HCC.

Cantharidin inhibits osteosarcoma proliferation and metastasis by directly targeting miR-214-3p/DKK3 axis to inactivate beta-catenin nuclear translocation and LEF1 translation

Shaopu Hu et al.

Summary: Down-regulated DKK3 indicates poor prognosis in osteosarcoma patients; up-regulated miR-214-3p promotes proliferation and migration of osteosarcoma cells by increasing β-catenin nuclear translocation and LEF1 translation via degradation of DKK3. Cantharidin inhibits osteosarcoma cell viability, migration, and invasion by down-regulating miR-214-3p to up-regulate DKK3, leading to decreased β-catenin nuclear translocation and LEF1 translation.
