Acoustotemplating: rapid synthesis of freestanding quasi-2D MOF/graphene oxide heterostructures for supercapacitor applications

Yemima Ehrnst et al.

Summary: In this study, we reported an acoustomicrofluidic method for the rapid synthesis of homogeneous MOF/graphene oxide (GO) planar heterostructures without the need for additives. The method successfully templated quasi-2D MOF crystals onto GO sheets, forming stacked layers. Compared to the traditional 3D copper-based MOF, the quasi-2D MOFs have exposed Cu sites that facilitate efficient coordination with GO. The freestanding membranes constructed with this structure exhibit excellent reduction resistance and integrity of the MOF crystal structure.

Space-confined growth of 2D MOF sheets between GO layers at room temperature for superior PDMS membrane-based ester/water separation

Li-Hao Xu et al.

Summary: Expanding the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) category using room-temperature colloidal chemistry route with regular crystal structure is challenging, but important for reducing energy consumption and realizing an economically viable application in industry. In this study, the researchers developed a novel advanced copper terephthalate MOF (CuBDC) between graphene oxide (GO) layers using a simple space-confined growth strategy at room temperature. The inclusion of CuBDC@GO allowed for high filler loadings while maintaining uniform dispersion throughout PDMS matrix, and the parallel arranged CuBDC sheets created 1D inner vertical channels, along with the enlarged GO interlayer space for rapid molecule permeselective transport.

Grafting nanometer metal/oxide interface towards enhanced low-temperature acetylene semi-hydrogenation

Shihui Zou et al.

Summary: The metal/oxide interface is crucial for heterogeneous catalysis, as demonstrated by the construction of a nanometer Pd/Bi2O3 interface and its essential catalytic roles in low-temperature semi-hydrogenation. The hybrid cluster ensemble features a small Pd-Pd coordination number and a Pd-Bi spatial correlation, leading to significant weakening of ethylene adsorption while maintaining hydrogen activation, resulting in high selectivity and conversion rates.
