Yellow-Emissive Carbon Dots with High Solid-State Photoluminescence

Jiazhuang Guo et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis, properties, and potential applications of yellow-emissive carbon dots (Y-CDs) with high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY). Y-CDs were prepared through solvothermal treatment and column chromatography, and exhibited excitation-independent PL emission with a high PL QY of 92%. Various characterizations and calculations were conducted to confirm the structure of Y-CDs, and Y-CD films with high PL brightness were fabricated.

Solvent-controlled synthesis strategy of multicolor emission carbon dots and its applications in sensing and light-emitting devices

Zhonghui Sun et al.

Summary: Carbon dots (CDs) as a new type of carbon-based luminescent nanomaterials have been successfully synthesized with bright blue, yellow, and red fluorescence emission by simply changing the reaction solvent. The precursors and solvents used play a key role in the formation of the three emission CDs. The multicolor CDs exhibit high selectivity and sensitivity as fluorescent probes in detection applications.

Solvent-dependent red emissive carbon dots and their applications in sensing and solid-state luminescence

Wenjing Wang et al.

Summary: Red emissive carbon dots (BNCDs), based on 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diamine (BNDM) and citric acid as a carbon source, were prepared through a one-pot solvothermal method. The synthesized BNCDs have uniform size distribution, photobleaching resistance, and show emission performance that is independent of the excitation wavelength. Moreover, the BNCDs exhibit bright red emission in a composite film with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix and the optical behavior can be tuned by changing solvent polarity. Additionally, BNCDs can serve as a fluorescence sensor for highly sensitive quantitative detection of trace water in organic solvents and as a fluorescence sensor for detection of Fe3+ and F-.

On-Off-On Fluorescent Chemosensors Based on N/P-Codoped Carbon Dots for Detection of Microcystin-LR

Xiaoyan Wang et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive and selective chemosensing strategy for MC-LR determination was developed using nitrogen/phosphorus-codoped carbon dots. The fluorescence intensity of the carbon dots was quenched by Fe3+ and recovered quickly in the presence of MC-LR. The sensor showed promising applicability for MC-LR determination in complex environmental water samples, with benefits including simple operation, low cost, fast response time, selectivity, and sensitivity.

Lijuan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon dots (NCDs) were synthesized for the first time using Oil red O as a precursor via a facile solvothermal method. Liquid-liquid extraction and purification resulted in a high quantum yield (QY) of up to 68% for NCDs. The NCDs showed outstanding selectivity and sensitivity as a sensing platform for Cu2+ and tetracycline antibiotics (TCs), with successful detection in actual samples.
