Creating Cu(I)-decorated defective UiO-66(Zr) framework with high CO adsorption capacity and selectivity

The Ky Vo et al.

Summary: In this study, a defective UiO-66(Zr) framework with improved surface area and pore structures was successfully synthesized using microwave-assisted continuous-flow synthesis. Cu(I) was loaded onto the defective UiO-66 samples to obtain Cu(I)@UiO-66 adsorbents, which exhibited high CO adsorption capacity due to the pi complexation between Cu+ and CO. The study provides a simple and scalable method for producing pi-complexation adsorbent for CO adsorption.

Recent advances in carbon nanomaterials-based electrochemical sensors for food azo dyes detection

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: Azo dyes are widely used food colorants for their stability and affordability. However, they can have harmful impacts on living organs, necessitating the control of their content in food. Electro-analytical techniques have been favored for detecting azo dyes due to their sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility, miniaturization, green nature, low cost, short sample preparation and detection time, and electrode modification capabilities. Carbon-based nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and graphene (Gr), have shown satisfactory results in the fabrication of electrochemical sensing systems for detecting the levels of azo dyes in various specimens.

Electrochemically modified adsorbents for treatment of aqueous arsenic: Pore diffusion in modified biomass vs. biochar

Khaled Zoroufchi Benis et al.

Summary: Electrochemically modified canola straw-based biomass and biochar adsorbents showed enhanced arsenate (As(V)) adsorption capacity, with optimized conditions leading to the highest adsorption capacity. Characterization revealed the presence of goethite on the adsorbents and indicated a hybrid adsorption mechanism with heterogeneous multilayer chemisorption. The electrochemical modification successfully increased the As(V) sorption capacity, showing potential for high performance adsorbents preparation.
