Liquid chromatographic study of two structural isomeric pentacyclic triterpenes on reversed-phase stationary phase with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin as mobile phase additive

Honglei Bao et al.

Summary: The retention behavior of two pentacyclic triterpenic acids, maslinic acid and corosolic acid, was investigated using reverse phase HPLC with HP-β-CD as a mobile phase additive. The study showed that corosolic acid exhibited a higher affinity with HP-β-CD compared to maslinic acid. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the formation of inclusion complexes was a spontaneous reaction and driven by enthalpy.

Enantioseparation performance of superficially porous particle vancomycin-based chiral stationary phases in supercritical fluid chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography; applicability for psychoactive substances

Denisa Folprechtova et al.

Summary: Novel psychoactive substances (NPS) are synthetic compounds designed to mimic the effects of recreational drugs while avoiding current drug control laws. Chiral NPS present challenges due to limited information on the pharmacological and toxicological properties of their enantiomers. The use of vancomycin-based chiral stationary phases shows high enantioselective potential in fast separation methods for various classes of NPS in both supercritical fluid chromatography and liquid chromatography.

Highly Stable Zr(IV)-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks for Chiral Separation in Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography

Hong Jiang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that highly stable Zr-based MOFs can be efficient CSPs for RP-HPLC. By designing and synthesizing three chiral porous Zr(IV)-MOFs with chiral crown ether moieties aligned within framework channels, they show excellent tolerance to water, acid, and base. Under acidic eluent conditions, Zr-MOF-packed HPLC columns provide high resolution, selectivity, and durability for the separation of various racemates.

Unusual enantiomeric separation due to residual amines in chiral crown ether stationary phase linked by long alkyl chain

Ji Yeong Sung et al.

Summary: A new chiral stationary phase (CSP) was prepared by linking (+)-(18-crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxylic acid to a silica gel surface through a long alkyl chain without additional aminoundecyl groups. The study revealed that a CSP with residual amines facilitated more effective enantiomeric separation compared to a CSP without residual amines.
