Hot Deformation Behavior and Recrystallization Mechanism in an As-Cast CoNi-Based Superalloy

Yong Guan et al.

Summary: The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of as-cast CoNi-based superalloy were investigated through hot compression tests, revealing a peak efficiency of 0.38 on the processing map at 1130 degrees C and a strain rate of 0.01 s(-1). The dominant recrystallization mechanism during hot working was found to be discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) related to strain-induced grain boundary migration (SIBM), with additional recrystallization occurring through sub-grains around MC carbides and shear band formations. The presence of fine gamma ' precipitates was also noted to inhibit recrystallization.

Hydrostatic Tube Cyclic Extrusion Compression as a Novel Severe Plastic Deformation Method for Fabricating Long Nanostructured Tubes

M. Eftekhari et al.

Summary: HTCEC is introduced as a novel severe plastic deformation technique for producing long and large ultrafine grained tubes with high strength and good ductility. Two passes of HTCEC processing resulted in significant improvements in yield strength, ultimate strength, and microhardness while slightly reducing elongation to failure. Additionally, a more homogeneous microhardness distribution was observed in the two-pass processed tubes.

Effects of Cr content and electromagnetic stirring on the phase separation of Cu-Cr alloy

Zhihao Yang et al.

Summary: Cu-Cr immiscible alloys were prepared by arc melting, and the effects of Cr addition and electromagnetic stirring on phase separation and microstructure were examined. Results showed that Cr addition increased the driving force for liquid phase separation, while electromagnetic stirring intensified the segregation phenomenon. Furthermore, Cr addition had a slight impact on hardness, while electrical conductivity only slightly decreased.

Multi-stage thermomechanical treatment Cu-6.5Fe-xMg alloy: Excellent physical and mechanical properties

Xin Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of Mg addition on the physical and mechanical properties of Cu-6.5Fe alloy. It is found that the addition of Mg element suppresses the segregation and coarsening of Fe phases, resulting in improved electromagnetic shielding and physical properties. This research has important application prospects in the fields of 5G communication and industrial robots.

Influence of Mechanical Alloying Time on Microstructure and Wear Behaviors of Fe-Cu-C Alloy

Elvan Buyukkayaci et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of mechanical alloying time on microstructure and wear behavior of Fe-Cu-C alloy produced with powder metallurgy method. It was found that 60 minutes of mechanical alloying time resulted in the highest density and hardness values in the Fe-Cu-C alloy. Additionally, the study showed that the highest weight loss in wear tests occurred in specimens with 120 minutes of mechanical alloying, while the lowest weight loss was observed in specimens with 60 minutes of mechanical alloying.

High Performance Cu Matrix Nanocomposite Fabricated Through Spark Plasma Sintering of Cu and Cu-Coated CNT

S. Shakibhamedan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Cu coating of carbon nanotube on the properties of Cu-3 wt%CNT nanocomposite, revealing improved dispersion of coated CNTs in the mixture, higher density, hardness, thermal properties and electrical conductivity. The bonding between CNT and Cu matrix was strengthened by the coating process, resulting in increased shear strength and changes in the fracture mode. The coefficient of thermal expansion and thermal distortion parameters were also affected by the coating time.

Hierarchical microstructures and deformation behavior of laser direct-metal-deposited Cu-Fe alloys

Arya Chatterjee et al.

Summary: Cu25Fe75 and Cu50Fe50 alloys fabricated using laser direct metal deposition exhibit hierarchical microstructures with nanoscale precipitates, showing enhanced flow strengths and significant plasticity in compression. The Cu25Fe75 alloy has lower yield strength but higher maximum compressive strength due to slightly coarser dendrites with nanoscale precipitation hierarchy.

Microstructure and properties of Cu-Fe alloys fabricated via powder metallurgy and rolling

Chenzeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, copper ferroalloys with different iron contents were prepared using mechanical alloying and vacuum sintering, followed by hot and cold rolling. The CFAs with homogenous and fine in-situ Fe particles showed better performance compared to conventional casting, achieving a good combination of mechanical and functional properties after annealing at 400 degrees C. Relations between microstructure and mechanical/functional properties were thoroughly discussed.

Deformation behavior of a Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Mo medium-entropy alloy at extremely low temperatures

Jongun Moon et al.

Summary: The medium-entropy alloy Co17.5Cr12.5Fe55Ni10Mo5 demonstrates excellent mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures, showing high strength, ductility, and strain hardening. It exhibits several unusual features within the extremely low temperature range of 0.5-4.2 K, including anomalies in the temperature dependence of yield strength and tensile ductility, discontinuous plastic deformation (DPF), and changes in deformation-induced martensitic transformation tendency. The observed phenomena may be interrelated and require further investigation.
