Anisotropy dependence of material removal and deformation mechanisms during nanoscratch of gallium nitride single crystals on (0001) plane

Chen Li et al.

Summary: Nanoscratch tests on GaN single crystals revealed that crack-free plastic deformation could be achieved along different zone axes, with deeper penetration depth and less phase transformation along the [11-20] zone axis. Higher stress along the [1-100] zone axis induced more phase transition from hexagonal system to cubic system. This study enhances understanding of the anisotropy dependence of material removal and damage mechanisms in GaN crystals.

The study of crack damage and fracture strength for single crystal silicon wafers sawn by fixed diamond wire

Tengyun Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that the direction of surface cracks on silicon wafers is relatively complex, with cracks showing a certain regular distribution, including some lateral cracks that do not fully extend to the sliced surface and intertwine to form subsurface cracks, with depths mostly between 5 and 13 micrometers, and the highest number of subsurface cracks at depths between 7 and 9 micrometers.

Research on the capillary penetration mechanism of cutting fluid supplied by electrostatic spraying in diamond wire sawing

Chunyan Yao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the capillary penetration mechanism of cutting fluid supplied by electrostatic spraying in diamond wire sawing and its impact on lubrication effects. The effects of charging voltage on ES-cutting fluid's properties were tested, and the relationship between charging voltage and capillary penetration depth was established. Experimental results show that capillary penetration depth increases with charging voltage up to a peak at -3 kV, before decreasing with further increase in voltage. Friction coefficient and cutting force also show similar trends with charging voltage and capillary penetration depth.

Simulation analysis on cutting forces based on surface topography of fixed abrasive wire saw

Aofei Tang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the use of diamond abrasive particles on the wire saw surface to interact with the workpiece for material removal. A cutting force simulation model with multiple abrasive particles was established to analyze the effects of feed rate and wire saw speed on cutting force, which was verified through cutting experiments. The developed finite element model for microscopic simulation of the cutting process lays a foundation for further research on wire saw cutting mechanism.
