A simple one-step method was used to prepare lactose crosslinked gelatin-silver nanocomposite (LGAg) hydrogels, which showed potent antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus. Characterization results confirmed the hydrogel structure, morphology, and silver nanoparticle formation, suggesting the potential applications of the hydrogel nanocomposites as wound dressing materials.
A simple one-step method was used to prepare lactose crosslinked gelatin-silver nanocomposite (LGAg) hydrogels by Schiff base bonding for wound dressing applications. The developed LGAg nanocomposite hydrogels were characterized by FTIR, XRD, UV-spectroscopy, and SEM to confirm hydrogel structure, morphology, and silver nanoparticle formation, and displayed potent antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus. Our results show the hydrogel nanocomposites produced have potential applications as wound dressing materials.
