Facile synthesis of Ti3+/Ti4+ co-doped FeOCl with solar-light enhanced Fenton activity

Ti3+/Ti4+ co-doped FeOCl was prepared by a simple calcination process, which exhibited 7 times higher photo-Fenton catalytic activity compared to FeOCl. The doping of Ti3+/Ti4+ in FeOCl resulted in a significant increase in the surface area by 16.4 times. The fast reduction of Fe3+ by photogenerated electrons and the presence of Ti3+ promoted the decomposition of H2O2 to generate hydroxyl radicals. These findings provide insights for the design and synthesis of novel structured photo-Fenton catalyst.
Ti3+/Ti4+ co-doped FeOCl has been prepared by a simple calcination process, which show that the photo-Fenton catalytic activity is 7 times that of FeOCl. The doping of Ti3+/Ti4+ in FeOCl resulted in a 16.4-fold increase in the surface area. The rapid reduction of Fe3+ by photogenerated electrons and the existence of Ti3+ promote the decomposition of H2O2 to produce hydroxyl radicals. The results will provide ideas for the design and synthesis of photo-Fenton catalyst with novel structure.
