Design and analysis of compound structures integrated with bio-based phase change materials and lattices obtained through additive manufacturing

Daniele Almonti et al.

Summary: Phase change materials (PCMs) are interesting materials used in thermal energy storage, with different properties derived from agricultural waste. By considering the thermal properties of the materials, heat exchangers can be designed accordingly. Industrial development is limited by thermal properties, but incorporating bio-based PCMs into metallic structures can improve thermal conductivity and heat transfer efficiency.

Modelling and FE simulation of 3D printed Co-Cr Lattice Structures for biomedical applications

F. Cantaboni et al.

Summary: Lattice structures, composed of repeated unit cells, offer great design opportunities and resemble physiological tissues. However, their full implementation and prediction of mechanical properties are still challenging. This study employed laser powder bed fusion to manufacture lattice structure samples and conducted compression tests and numerical simulations to analyze their mechanical behavior and stiffness.
