All-Climate and Ultrastable Dual-Ion Batteries with Long Life Achieved via Synergistic Enhancement of Cathode and Anode Interfaces

Wen-Hao Li et al.

Summary: Dual-ion batteries have the potential to be used for large-scale energy storage due to their high energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. In this study, a two-pronged strategy is used to improve the interfacial stability in Li-graphite DIBs, resulting in ultrastable batteries with a long cycle life and all-climate temperature performance. The study also points out a promising research direction for other types of batteries.

Structural Evolution of Graphitic Carbon Derived from Ionic Liquids-Dissolved Cellulose and Its Application as Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes

Shuai Liu et al.

Summary: Cellulose-derived carbon was prepared by dissolving micro-crystalline cellulose in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate and carbonizing it at a low temperature range. The carbonization process enhanced the crystallinity of the carbon and reduced the nitrogen content as the temperature increased. The synthesized carbon at 750 degrees Celsius exhibited the best cyclic stability and reversible capacity as an anode for lithium-ion batteries compared to other carbon materials.

Designed Formation of Yolk-Shell-Like N-Doped Carbon-Coated Si Nanoparticles by a Facile Method for Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes

Yanbin Wei et al.

Summary: Silicon is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries due to its high capacity, but its practical application is hindered by the large volume change and poor conductivity. By designing and preparing yolk-shell-like N-doped carbon-coated Si nanoparticles, these issues can be resolved and ideal Si-based composite materials can be constructed.

Influence of Additives on the Electrochemical and Interfacial Properties of SiOx-Based Anode Materials for Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Swamickan Sathya et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the influence of four different electrolyte additives on the electrochemical and interfacial properties of SiOx-based anodes in lithium-sulfur batteries. Among the additives, FEC was found to offer the lowest self-extinguishing time and interfacial resistance, leading to superior charge-discharge properties attributed to the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interface layer on the electrode surface.
