Targeting Endothelial Connexin37 Reduces Angiogenesis and Decreases Tumor Growth

Karthik Sathiyanadan et al.

Summary: Loss of Cx37 reduces the proliferation of primary human EC, vascularization, tumor angiogenesis, and tumor growth, leading to longer survival in mouse models. Cx37 and Cx40 collaborate to promote tumor growth. These findings highlight the importance of Cx37 in regulating EC proliferation and growth in different tumor models, suggesting it as a potential target for anti-tumoral treatments.

Association between the Cx371019 C > T genetic variant and risk of breast cancer

Mahla Tabadkani et al.

Summary: The study found that the Cx37 1019 C > T polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, suggesting genetic variations may be related to susceptibility to various malignancies. Further research in diverse populations is needed to determine the potential value of this marker as a risk stratification biomarker for breast cancer.

Cutaneous and hepatic vascular lesions due to a recurrent somatic GJA4 mutation reveal a pathway for vascular malformation

Nelson Ugwu et al.

Summary: The term “cavernous hemangioma” is used to describe vascular anomalies with dilated vascular spaces and specific histological features. Through genetic analysis, a recurrent somatic mutation in the GJA4 gene was identified as a driver of hepatic and cutaneous venous malformations, suggesting a new pathway for vascular anomalies and potential therapeutic targets.
