This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the flow of Carreau fluid past a stretched cylinder under convective surface conditions and velocity slip. The study uses the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model to examine the heat transfer characteristics of the Carreau fluid. The results show the significant impact of various parameters on the temperature and velocity distributions, and discuss the performance of surface drag coefficient and heat transfer rate. The findings are relevant for applications in heat transfer over soft surfaces.
The current article is comprehensive analysis of Carreau fluid past a stretched cylinder in the existence of convective surface conditions and velocity slip. Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model is employed to examine the heat transfer features in Carreau fluid. This model seems to be a modified form of the traditional Fourier's law when the stirring attitude of thermal relaxation time is also admitted. Nonlinear radiation effects are also considered to observe the flow. Further, equations involving partial derivatives constructed for the problem are converted to differential equations with ordinary derivatives which are further resolved by employing numerical approach BVP4C. The outstanding physical features of parameters such as velocity slip constraints, Biot number, thermal relaxation time, thermal radiation parameter, stretching parameter, Weissenberg number and temperature ratio parameter on dimensionless temperature and velocity distributions are examined and showed through graphs and tables. The performance of numerous physical aspects such as surface drag coefficient and heat transfer rate is debated in detail. It is depicted that higher values of stretching parameter and slip parameter reduce the velocity profile of the Carreau fluid. The study discloses that the thermal relaxation parameter diminishes, whereas the temperature ratio parameter, radiation parameter and Biot number enlarge the temperature field as well as thermal boundary layer thickness. The calculated outcomes are of potential benefit for heat transfer over various soft surfaces such as soft silicone sheet, synthetic plastics and soft synthetic rubber sheet.
