Removal of phenol from aqueous solution using reduced graphene oxide as adsorbent: isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic studies

Dibya Ranjan Rout et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the batch adsorption of phenol from an aqueous solution using reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as an adsorbent. The optimized adsorption conditions were determined and various models were used to analyze the adsorption behavior. The results showed that RGO had the ability to regenerate and effectively remove phenol.

Synthesis of novel epichlorohydrin cross-linked β-cyclodextrin functionalized with reduced graphene oxide composite adsorbent for treatment of phenolic wastewater

Dibya Ranjan Rout et al.

Summary: A novel composite material, RGO-beta CD-ECH, was synthesized and used for the treatment of phenolic wastewater. The synthesized composite showed excellent adsorption performance for phenolic pollutants, with high uptake and fitting the pseudo-second-order model. Thermodynamic data revealed that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. The composite also demonstrated good removal efficiency for synthetic industrial effluents.

Synthesis of magnetite-graphene nanocomposite for wastewater treatment

Prateekshya Suman Sahu et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized Fe3O4 embedded reduced graphene oxide (rGO) (mrGO) nanocomposite and applied it to remove toxic lead ions (Pb(II). The compositional and morphological analysis confirmed the successful synthesis of mrGO with uniform distribution of Fe3O4 nanoparticles on rGO nanosheets. The performance of mrGO in eliminating Pb(II) ions from aqueous solutions was excellent, following Freundlich isotherm and Pseudo second order kinetic models. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 657.894 mg/g. These findings indicate the potential of mrGO as an effective adsorbent for not only Pb(II), but also for other noxious waste.
