Influence of heat treatment temperature on the properties of the lithium disilicate-fluorcanasite glass-ceramics

Arnon Kraipok et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of heat treatment temperatures on the mechanical properties and chemical solubility of lithium disilicate-fluorcanasite glass-ceramics. The research found that with increasing heat treatment temperatures, density, hardness, fracture strength, and chemical solubility increased while translucency values decreased. The presence of fluorcanasite phases in the glass-ceramic samples significantly increased the chemical solubility.

Investigation of phase formation and mechanical properties of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic doped CeO2

Arnon Kraipok et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of adding CeO2 on the phase formation, microstructure, and mechanical properties of lithium disilicate glass-ceramics, finding that the proportion of Li2Si2O5 increased slightly with higher CeO2 content. The optimal heat treatment temperature for samples containing 1.5wt% CeO2 was determined to be heating in a first step at 600°C and a second step at 800°C for 1 hour each. Additionally, bioactivity testing showed that CeO2-doped lithium disilicate glass-ceramic exhibits biological activity that can activate protein production and stimulate ALP activity.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of Al2O3 concentration on the phase formation and mechanical properties of lithium disilicate glass ceramics. The results showed that increasing Al2O3 content significantly affected the glass transition temperature, crystallization temperature, and mechanical properties of the material.
