(Ca,Sr,Ba)ZrO3: A promising entropy-stabilized ceramic for titanium alloys smelting

Shuaihang Qiu et al.

Summary: An entropy-stabilized (ES) (Ca, Sr, Ba)ZrO3 ceramic has been successfully designed and synthesized, showing a single solid solution with homogeneous distribution of metal elements after sintering at 1550 degrees C. This ceramic exhibits good relative density, hardness, lower thermal conductivity, and excellent corrosion resistance to TiNi alloy melt, making it a promising crucible material for melting titanium alloys.

Prediction of mechanical and thermo-physical properties of (Nb-Ti-V-Zr)C high entropy ceramics: A first principles study

Zhihao Huang et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the effect of different components on the structural, mechanical, and thermo-physical properties of (Nb-Ti-V-Zr)C crystalline high entropy ceramics using first principles calculations and quasi-harmonic Debye-Griineisen model. The results showed that the VCA scheme was suitable for random (Nb-Ti-V-Zr)C CHECs, and the influence of the concentration of different metallic elements on thermo-physical properties was discussed in detail.

High-entropy ferroelastic rare-earth tantalite ceramic: (Y0.2Ce0.2Sm0.2Gd0.2Dy0.2)TaO4

Jun Wang et al.

Summary: The high-entropy rare-earth tantalate ceramics (5RE(0.2))TaO4 exhibit lower phonon thermal conductivity, higher fracture toughness, and lower brittleness index compared to RETaO4 and YSZ. With a thermal expansion coefficient as high as 10.3 x 10(-6) K-1 and a Young's modulus ranging from 66 to 189 GPa, (5RE(0.2))TaO4 shows great potential for application in thermal barrier coatings.
