CID Fragmentation of Deprotonated N-Acyl Aromatic Sulfonamides. Smiles-Type and Nitrogen-Oxygen Rearrangements

Yuxue Liang et al.

Summary: This study investigated tandem mass spectral characteristics and reaction mechanisms of aromatic sulfonamides, showing different product ions under different conditions, and involving nitrogen-oxygen rearrangement mechanism and Smiles-type rearrangement. The experimental results and Density Functional Theory calculations provided corresponding activation energies, supporting the proposed parallel mechanism.
