Vibrational spectroscopy analysis of silica and silicate glass networks

Hongshen Liu et al.

Summary: Vibrational spectroscopy is widely used to study the structural aspects of glass networks, but interpretations of spectral features are difficult due to the non-crystalline nature of the glass. Recent advances include theoretical calculations and comparisons with experimental data, as well as suggested empirical relationships for interpreting vibrational spectral features of silica and silicate glasses.

Nickel-Based Selenides with a Fractal Structure as an Excellent Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Water Splitting

Jingxuan He et al.

Summary: In this study, nickel-based selenides with different fractal structures were prepared by controlling aging time, and the catalytic activity was studied. By doping iron in NixSey, the catalytic activity was successfully improved. This has important reference value for the development of low-cost and high-efficiency electrocatalytic water splitting catalysts.

Antireflective laser coating with improved mechanical property and organic-contaminant resistance for high-power laser application

Xue-Ran Deng et al.

Summary: The coating, consisting of a cross-linking network structure of polysiloxane and porous silica spheres, provides resistance to VOC invasion and improved mechanical properties, as well as proper porosity to adjust refractive index and relax laser energy. Through structural modulation, it achieves excellent transmission and laser-damage resistance at different wavelengths, increased hardness, and qualified VOCs endurance, effectively extending the coating's lifetime.

Dense and strong, but superinsulating silica aerogel

Subramaniam Iswar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the synthesis of silica aerogel granules using ambient pressure drying to enhance mechanical stiffness while maintaining low thermal conductivity. By optimizing aging and drying conditions, dense but superinsulating silica aerogels were produced, challenging traditional understanding of heat transport in aerogels.
