Cast-free fabrication of a digital removable partial denture with a polyetheretherketone framework

Lucio Lo Russo et al.

Summary: Digital workflows allow for the fabrication of removable partial dentures with new machinable materials, such as PEEK. All components of the denture can be digitally designed and manufactured, but physical casts are still necessary for assembly. A cast-free fabrication procedure can offer benefits like reduced steps, faster processing, and less material waste. This report demonstrates a workflow using intraoral scanning and no physical casts for fabricating a removable partial denture with a PEEK framework, milled teeth, and milled flanges. Improving digital scans by using a peripheral custom tray: A dental technique

Francois Virard et al.

Summary: This article presents a digital dental technique for registering functional borders of immediate complete dentures, utilizing an intraoral scanner, dental CAD software, and a custom tray. It also demonstrates the process of virtually matching recorded information to transform initial intraoral scans into definitive digital scans.

Digital Immediate Complete Denture for a Patient with Rhabdomyosarcoma: A Clinical Report

Gustavo Mendonca et al.

Summary: This clinical report describes a digital workflow for fabricating a printed maxillary immediate complete denture for a patient with a severely compromised maxilla. Digital data obtained from an intraoral scanner reconstructs the 3D image, after which virtual teeth extraction and alveoloplasty are performed. The resulting denture is additively manufactured and inserted immediately post-surgery, with a new denture later fabricated using a digitally duplicated and adjusted base for optimal retention and function.

Accuracy of Intraoral Scanners for Recording the Denture Bearing Areas: A Systematic Review

Vanya Rasaie et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed clinical and laboratory studies on the accuracy of intraoral scanners in recording denture bearing areas. The results showed that while intraoral scanners were comparable to conventional techniques in recording bony structures, they had limitations in accurately registering mobile tissues. Factors such as presence of a marker, larger scanner head size, and specific scanning techniques appeared to improve the accuracy of digital impressions.

Comparison of the Accuracy of Optical Impression Systems in Three Different Clinical Situations

Maria Doukantzi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the differences in accuracy of five different optical impression systems in various clinical situations. Trios 3 and True Definition Scanner were found to be superior in most measurements, but none of the systems showed clear superiority in both trueness and precision.
