Magnetocaloric effect in multilayers studied by membrane-based calorimetry

M. Kulyk et al.

Summary: We study magnetic multilayers with dilute ferromagnetic spacers between strongly-ferromagnetic layers, and observe an enhanced magnetocaloric effect. Measurements using magnetometry and direct measurement of adiabatic temperature change show that the enhancement is significant compared to the bulk spacer material. We develop a phenomenological numerical model that incorporates a long-range exchange interaction through the weakly-ferromagnetic spacer to accurately describe the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the system.

Exchange Enhancement of the Magnetocaloric Effect in Ferromagnetic Nanostructures (Brief Review)

A. A. Fraerman

Summary: A magnetic cooling approach based on the proximity effect of ferromagnets with different Curie temperatures is proposed, with theoretical predictions showing higher efficiency compared to homogeneous magnets. Experimental studies on magnetocaloric effect in magnetic nanostructures and their potential use in magnetic cooling devices are discussed.

Magnetocaloric Effect in Nanosystems Based on Ferromagnets with Different Curie Temperatures

M. A. Kuznetsov et al.

Summary: The magnetocaloric effect in nanosystems based on exchange-coupled ferromagnets with different Curie temperatures is calculated using mean-field theory. Results show good agreement with Landau theory near the critical phase transition temperature, indicating potential for high magnetic cooling efficiency. The theory developed for flat-layered structures is also applicable to granular mediums.
