How many particles make up a chaotic many-body quantum system?

Guy Zisling et al.

Summary: According to our numerical investigation, as few as 4 particles in the case of short-range interactions and as few as 3 particles for long-range interactions are required for the onset of strong chaos in quantum systems on a one-dimensional lattice. The robust signatures of quantum chaos emerge without any apparent dependence on the size of the system, for multiple system sizes which are at least three times larger than the number of particles.

Generation of Bures-Hall mixed states using coupled kicked tops

Ayana Sarkar et al.

Summary: This study examines the properties of random density matrices generated by a system of coupled kicked tops under the Bures-Hall measure, and investigates the effects of different coupling parameters and levels of chaos on the system behavior. Results show that the simulated outcomes align with analytical results of random matrix theory, and the distribution of density matrices in high dimensions conforms to the Wigner-surmise-like result for the Gaussian unitary ensemble.

Quantum State Complexity in Computationally Tractable Quantum Circuits

Jason Iaconis

Summary: This paper discusses a special class of numerically tractable quantum circuits known as quantum automaton circuits, and argues that automaton wave functions have high quantum state complexity using ideas from quantum complexity theory. The study finds that automaton wave functions closely approximate the behavior of fully Haar random states, and identifies generalized out-of-time ordered 2k-point correlation functions as a useful probe of complexity in automaton circuits. Numerical analysis shows evidence of linear growth of design complexity in local quantum circuits, consistent with conjectures from quantum information theory.
