Jiayu Di et al.

Summary: This study reports the growth of high-quality phase pure CsPbBr3 perovskite single crystals at room temperature by a humidity controlled solvent evaporation method for the first time. It also reveals the room temperature phase transition process and mechanism induced by humidity, as well as the superior stability of CsPbBr3 single crystals compared to organic-inorganic perovskite under high humidity. X-ray detectors based on CsPbBr3 single crystals show high sensitivity and low detection limit, meeting the needs of medical diagnosis.

In Situ Solution-Grown Halide Perovskite Single Crystals with Epitaxial Heterojunction Structures for Efficient Photodetection

Yandong Ren et al.

Summary: Perovskite single-crystal heterojunctions provide opportunities to adjust the optoelectronic properties. In this work, perovskite single-crystal heterojunctions with different compositions were successfully fabricated using an in situ solution growth approach. The gradient interface played a crucial role in releasing the lattice mismatch. The heterojunction-based device exhibited enhanced performance due to the quasi-type II-like energy level alignment.

Inhomogeneous Trap-State-Mediated Ultrafast Photocarrier Dynamics in CsPbBr3 Microplates

Yizhi Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, the trap-state-mediated photocarrier dynamics in defect-rich CsPbBr3 microplates were investigated using ultrafast laser spectroscopy. The research revealed that trap densities in surface and bulk regions are heterogeneous and increase significantly as the thickness decreases. Competitive dynamics of ultrafast photocarrier energy relaxations between surface and bulk regions were studied, showing a polaron-assisted ultrafast energy transfer process across the surface-bulk interface.

Mapping Trap Dynamics in a CsPbBr3 Single-Crystal Microplate by Ultrafast Photoemission Electron Microscopy

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: For versatile lead-halide perovskite materials, trap states in both bulk and surface significantly affect optoelectronic behaviors and performance. Utilizing femtosecond pump-probe technique combined with PEEM, shallow and deep trap states were identified within a CsPbBr3 single-crystal microplate. The study revealed a high-defect tolerance to shallow traps within the microplate, while surface dynamics were dominated by deep traps. The ultrafast PEEM provided insights into fast electron transfer and accumulation of surface trap states, highlighting the importance of surface optimization for excellent electronic properties of perovskite materials.

Amplifying Surface Energy Difference toward Anisotropic Growth of All-Inorganic Perovskite Single-Crystal Wires for Highly Sensitive Photodetector

Yuan Chen et al.

Summary: By amplifying the surface energy difference through a chemical potential dependent strategy, CsPbBr3 perovskite monocrystalline wires with high aspect ratio were successfully grown. The anisotropic growth of the wires was achieved by regulating the anti-solvent diffusion kinetic and the mass transfer kinetic control of metal halide salts. The produced PWs exhibit high photodetection responsivity and external quantum efficiency, revealing the crucial role of surface energy in the anisotropic growth of CsPbBr3 PWs.

Quantifying Photoinduced Polaronic Distortions in Inorganic Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals

Oliviero Cannelli et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photophysics of CsPbBr3 perovskites and reveals that the photoinduced carrier recombination can reversibly unlock structural deformation at the Br and Pb sites. By comparing with temperature-dependent XAS results, thermal effects are ruled out as the primary cause of distortion of the Pb-Br bonding motif during photoexcitation.
