Vibronic Coupling Effect on the Vibrationally Resolved Electronic Spectra and Intersystem Crossing Rates of a TADF Emitter: 7-PhQAD

Sirong Lin et al.

Summary: Assessing and improving the performance of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials requires quantitative prediction of rate coefficients for intersystem crossing (ISC) and reverse ISC (RISC) processes, which is influenced by various factors including energy gap, direct spin-orbit coupling (SOC), and non-Condon effects. In this study, time-dependent correlation function approaches were used to calculate the vibrational resolved absorption and fluorescence spectra and ISC/RISC rates of a newly synthesized multiple-resonance-type thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter. The results suggest that the vibronic coupling and spin-vibronic coupling have significant influences on the ISC rates, while the HTVC effect slightly affects the absorption and fluorescence spectra.

Halide-Enhanced Spin-Orbit Coupling and the Phosphorescence Rate in Ir(III) Complexes

Marsel Z. Shafikov et al.

Summary: The phosphorescence rate in Ir(III) complexes can be increased by enhancing the spin-orbit coupling effect through the introduction of metal-coordinated halides, such as in the example of the dinuclear Ir2I2 complex. The exchange of chlorides for iodides significantly contributes to the enhancement of the phosphorescence rate by increasing the contribution of halides to the spin-orbit coupling effect.

Assessing the Orbital Contribution in the Spodium Bond by Natural Orbital for Chemical Valence-Charge Displacement Analysis

Gianluca Ciancaleoni et al.

Summary: The concept of spodium bond (SpB) is proposed to describe noncoordinative interactions between group 12 metals and mild Lewis bases. Assessing the real importance of SpB is challenging due to the presence of multiple weak interactions. By using ETS-NOCV-CD analysis, the orbital contribution to the interaction can be dissected, showing that a direct correlation between metal-base distance and orbital contribution for SpB may be lacking.

Molecular mechanism of aggregation-induced emission

Qian Peng et al.

Summary: Understanding the luminescence mechanism is crucial for the development of AIE materials. Weak intermolecular excitonic coupling in AIEgens challenges conventional models, leading to new theoretical proposals. Multiscale computational approaches provide insights into radiative and nonradiative decay processes, offering potential for predicting molecular design.

Three States Involving Vibronic Resonance is a Key to Enhancing Reverse Intersystem Crossing Dynamics of an Organoboron-Based Ultrapure Blue Emitter

Inkoo Kim et al.

Summary: The development of narrow-band blue-emitting organoboron chromophores based on the multiple-resonance (MR) effect has become essential for constructing efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). These chromophores exhibit a combination of fluorescence and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), with a unique reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) mechanism enhancing their performance. The presence of vibronic resonance and strong vibronic rate enhancements in these chromophores allows for efficient RISC over a range of singlet-triplet energy gaps (Delta E-ST), making them stand out compared to conventional donor-acceptor emitters.
