Identification of thin-layer coal texture using geophysical logging data: Investigation by Wavelet Transform and Linear Discrimination Analysis

Shida Chen et al.

Summary: The study utilized wavelet transform to enhance the resolution of well logging curves for better coal texture prediction. A quantitative coal texture identification model was established using linear discrimination analysis, leading to a significant improvement in recognition accuracy.

Relationship between coal composition, fracture abundance and initial reservoir permeability: A case study in the Walloon Coal Measures, Surat Basin, Australia

Saswata Mukherjee et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the permeability and fracture intensity of the sub-bituminous Walloon coals in the Surat Basin are influenced by coal composition and geological structures, showing regional variations. These factors collectively control the rheological behavior of the Walloon Coal Measures in the basin.

Evaluation of multistage characteristics for coalbed methane desorption-diffusion and their geological controls: A case study of the northern Gujiao Block of Qinshui Basin, China

Zhentao Li et al.

Summary: Based on diverse geologic data and on-site desorption experimental results, a systematic investigation on the multistage characteristics of coalbed methane desorption-diffusion behaviors in the No. 8 coal seam in northern Gujiao Block was conducted. The study identified three deformation phases in the coal seam and established a mathematical method to quantitatively divide the CBM desorption process into three stages. The results indicate that the geologic control factors have a comprehensive influence on the CBM desorption-diffusion process and its impact on gas production characteristics of CBM wells.
