Nickel-adsorbed two-dimensional Nb2C MXene for enhanced energy storage applications

Ayesha Zaheer et al.

Summary: Due to their high energy storage capacity, two-dimensional transition metal carbides (MXenes) have been widely studied as a promising candidate for supercapacitors. In this study, the synthesis, computational and electrochemical properties of pristine and nickel-doped niobium-carbide (Nb2C) MXenes were reported. The introduction of nickel increased the total density of states (TDOS) and showed a continuous density of states (DOS) pattern, indicating coupling between nickel and pristine MXene. The Ni-doped sample exhibited a significant capacitive performance and a high capacitance retention up to 10,000 cycles.

Enhanced giant dielectric properties and improved nonlinear electrical response in acceptor-donor (Al3+, Ta5+)-substituted CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics

Jakkree Boonlakhorn et al.

Summary: In this study, greatly enhanced breakdown electric field and nonlinear coefficient with reduced tan delta were achieved by simultaneous partial substitution of CCTO with acceptor-donor (Al3+, Ta5+) dopants to produce (Al3+, Ta5+)-CCTO ceramics. The improved electrical properties were attributed to the synergistic effects of the co-dopants in the doped CCTO structure, leading to enhanced grain boundary resistance. These results provide useful guidelines for developing new giant dielectric ceramics with excellent dielectric properties.

Summary: The electrical behavior of BaLT1-xNb4x/5 ceramics was studied, revealing an increase in conductivity with higher Nb content, frequency dependence in accordance with the Jonscher power law, and the suitability of barrier hopping and polaron tunneling models to explain conduction mechanisms. Additionally, increasing temperature led to an increase in DC conductivity, confirming the semiconducting nature of the materials.
