Crosslinkable dextrin-coated latex via surfactant-free emulsion polymerization

Mohamed Aouay et al.

Summary: Emulsion polymerization using dextrins as the sole stabilizer produced stable latex dispersions with high solid content and narrow particle size distribution. The H2O2/ascorbic acid redox initiator was effective in achieving complete polymerization within 3-4 hours, resulting in dextrin-functionalized polymer latexes with particle sizes between 150 and 600 nm.

Living Aqueous Microemulsion Polymerization of Ethylene with Robust Ni(II) Phosphinophenolato Catalysts

Fei Lin et al.

Summary: P,O-chelated Ni(II) complexes typically result in low molecular weight polymers or oligomers due to competitive chain transfer events. However, bulky substituted phosphinophenolato Ni(II) complexes have shown the ability to polymerize in a living fashion without chain transfer, leading to high molecular weight polyethylenes in aqueous nanoparticle dispersions. The catalyst demonstrates stability and activity up to 70 degrees Celsius in water.

Constructing Cylindrical Nanostructures Via Directional Morphology Evolution Induced by Seeded Polymerization

Liangliang Shen et al.

Summary: The use of spindle-shaped block copolymer (BCP) nanoparticles in seeded polymerization of methyl methacrylate represents a novel approach for generating cylindrical nanostructures. The chain-extension of BCP seeds triggers the deforming, stretching, and directional growth of the seeds along the long axis, eventually leading to the formation of nanorods.

Stereoselective Primary and Secondary Nucleation Events in Multicomponent Seeded Supramolecular Polymerization

Souvik Sarkar et al.

Summary: Bioinspired, kinetically controlled seeded growth has been shown to provide length, dispersity, and sequence control on the primary structure of dynamic supramolecular polymers. However, command over the molecular organization at all hierarchical levels for the modulation of higher order structures of supramolecular polymers remains challenging. Surface-catalyzed secondary nucleation process offers exciting possibilities for topology control in synthetic macromolecular systems, but mechanistic insights into the molecular determinants and driving forces for the secondary nucleation event in synthetic systems are lacking. The study attempts to fill this gap by demonstrating molecular chirality control on primary and secondary nucleation events in seed-induced supramolecular polymerization, with kinetic experiments providing insights into the nucleation processes.
