Coronene surface for delivery of Favipiravir: Computational approach

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: By employing density functional theory calculations, it was found that favipiravir (FAV) could interact with both carbon coronene and boron nitride coronene surfaces, with better favorability of FAV@BN complex formation. Molecular orbital features indicated that the electronic behavior of FAV@BNC complex could be close to the original FAV, and the density of states (DOS) diagrams showed the advantage of the employed models for sensor applications. The quantum theory of atoms in molecule (QTAIM) confirmed the interactions between substances and their strengths, leading to the proposal of FAV@BN complex as a proper compound for further investigation of drug delivery processes.

Investigations of adsorption behavior and anti-cancer activity of curcumin on pure and platinum-functionalized B12N12 nanocages

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, boron nitride nanoparticles were utilized as drug carriers with improved solubility and stability. The loading of curcumin onto a platinum-decorated B12N12 nanocage was investigated using density functional theory. The results showed strong binding of curcumin with the nanocage, leading to increased charge transfer and significant alterations in molecular properties. Molecular docking studies revealed that curcumin adsorbed on Pt and B atoms of the Pt-B12N12 nanocage and exhibited strong binding affinity with potential therapeutic effects.

Developing Efficient Suzuki Cross-Coupling Catalysts by Doping Palladium Clusters with Silver

Turbasu Sengupta et al.

Summary: The doping of a Pd cluster with Ag atoms enhances the efficiency of Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions by reducing the barriers for oxidation and reduction steps. The Ag atom adjacent to Pd sites in a Pd12Ag cluster donates charge to lower the barriers, demonstrating a unique donor-acceptor characteristic between Ag and Pd atoms. This study shows that altering the active site atom can control the activation energies of redox steps, suggesting the potential of silver-doped Pd-n clusters as catalysts.
