Piezo-phototronic effect promoted carrier separation in coaxial p-n junctions for self-powered photodetector

Xinxin Du et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates fiber-shaped photodetectors constructed by vertical organic-inorganic heterostructures, achieving self-powered behavior and promoted photoresponse through piezo-phototronic effect. By controlling bend-induced piezo-potentials, tunable photoresponse and ultrafast response and recovery were realized, enhancing light detection ability.

Elaborate manipulation on CNT intertube heat transport by using a polymer knob

Lin Qiu et al.

Summary: In this study, the relationship between thermal conductivity and the orientation of polymer chains in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was investigated. It was found that the thermal conductance is strongly dependent on the orientation of polymer chain, leading to an enhancement of the phonon coupling at the CNT contact and an increase in the interfacial thermal conductance for thermal transport across the tubes.

An insight into thermal properties of BC3-graphene hetero-nanosheets: a molecular dynamics study

Maryam Zarghami Dehaghani et al.

Summary: Simulation of the thermal properties of BC(3)GrHs revealed that the presence of grain boundaries with topological defects such as pentagons and heptagons can significantly impact the interfacial thermal resistance. The Kapitza resistance was found to increase with higher defect density in the grain boundary. Symmetric grain boundaries with 5-7-6-6 and 5-7-5-7 defect pairs showed the lowest and highest values of Kapitza resistance, respectively, indicating the importance of defect structure in thermal properties. Additionally, temperature and strain were observed to affect the Kapitza resistance, while the length of the nanosheets and temperature gradient had a negligible effect.

Numerical study on gravity-driven granular flow around tube out-wall: Effect of tube inclination on the heat transfer

Zhigang Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of tube inclination on heat transfer in granular flow moving bed heat exchangers using a discrete element method. It was found that tube inclination can improve heat transfer by increasing the heat transfer area, but uncertainties exist in the local heat transfer coefficients. Additionally, different effects were observed at different locations along the tube, with bottom area benefiting from increased heat transfer coefficient and top or middle areas experiencing opposing effects.

Thermal conductivity of random polycrystalline BC3 nanosheets: A step towards realistic simulation of 2D structures

Sasan Fooladpanjeh et al.

Summary: The study simulated polycrystalline boron carbide nanosheets using Molecular Dynamics simulation and found that the thermal conductivity decreases non-linearly with increasing grain number due to more phonon scattering from structural defects. Additionally, increasing the grain rotation angle led to higher Kapitza thermal resistance, limiting heat transfer across polycrystalline nanosheets.

Investigation of frequency-up conversion effect on the performance improvement of stack-based piezoelectric generators

Yan Peng et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the influence of frequency-up conversion effect on high-performance energy harvesting using piezoelectric stack generators. Experimental results show significant enhancement in instantaneous power and average power with frequency-up conversion. The voltage response cycles consist of high-frequency high-amplitude oscillation and low-frequency low-amplitude harmonic vibration.
