Supracervical Hysterectomy Is Protective against Mesh Complications after Minimally Invasive Abdominal Sacrocolpopexy: A Population-Based Cohort Study of 12,189 Patients

Summary: In the study of minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy, concomitant total hysterectomy at the time of surgery is associated with a significantly higher rate of mesh complications compared to supracervical hysterectomy. The risk of mesh complications remains high even if total hysterectomy was performed prior to the sacrocolpopexy.

Route of Hysterectomy at the Time of Sacrocolpopexy: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

Summary: This study compared the incidence of mesh exposure based on the route of hysterectomy in minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy. The results showed that the route of hysterectomy and mode of mesh attachment did not significantly affect the incidence of mesh exposure. However, supracervical hysterectomy had a significantly higher recurrence rate.

Short-Term Outcomes of Vaginal Hysterectomy at the Time of Robotic Sacrocolpopexy

Summary: In this study, we evaluated short-term outcomes of women undergoing VH with concomitant RSC for pelvic organ prolapse, finding that 12.4% of patients had prolapse at median follow-up of 49 weeks, with 1.4% requiring repeat surgery. Postoperative fever occurred in 4.3%, venous thromboembolism in 2.4%, urinary tract infections in 8.6%, mesh exposure in 7.7% and reoperation in 6.2%.
