Flexible CuCo2O4 @Ni-Co-S hybrids as electrode materials for high-performance energy storage devices

Xiaowei Wang et al.

Summary: Rational design of electrode materials with core-shell nanostructures is important for improving the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. In this study, several CuCo2O4 @Ni-Co-S composite electrodes were prepared, which showed high electrochemical activity as a result of their three-dimensional structure. The heterostructured materials exhibited a specific capacitance of 1048 C/g at 1 A/g, and maintained 75.6% of their initial capacity after 2000 cycles at 10 A/g. With a power density of 2280 W/kg, the device achieved an energy density of 79.2 Wh/kg.

Facile synthesis of Ni-Co layered double hydroxide with nitrates as interlayer anions via an oxidation-induced anion intercalation process for hybrid supercapacitors

Hua Tian et al.

Summary: The Ni-Co layered double hydroxide with nitrate anions as interlayer counter ions was obtained through an oxidation-induced anion intercalation process. The increase in trivalent metal cations facilitates the intercalation of nitrate anions into the interlamellar region, resulting in hierarchical flower-like morphologies and expanded interplanar spacing. The unique structure accelerates the diffusion process of active hydroxide anions and enhances stability during electrochemical reactions, showing potential for practical energy storage devices.
