Effect of configuration entropy on dielectric relaxor, ferroelectric properties of high-entropy (NaBiBa)x(SrCa)(1-3x)/2TiO3 ceramics

Yangchao Shang et al.

Summary: The unique structure and performance of high-entropy ceramics provide a new perspective for modern material research. High-entropy (NaBiBa)(x)(SrCa)((1-3x)/2)TiO3 (x = 0.18 to 0.22) ceramics with a cubic-like perovskite structure were successfully fabricated, and the configuration entropy was adjusted. The ceramics exhibited superior relaxor behavior and polarization properties, indicating their excellent potential in relaxor ferroelectric exploitation.

Summary: This study investigates a lithium-manipulation strategy for constructing transition metal oxides, resulting in the successful synthesis of LTM containing six highly dispersed metal species. The introduction of Li leads to more oxygen vacancies and significantly enhanced electrical conductivity, displaying excellent electrocatalytic performance.

Entropy-enthalpy interactions and optical properties of non-equiatomic multicomponent rare-earth oxides

Jian Yang et al.

Summary: Multicomponent oxides (Ce1/2Zr1/2)(1-x)(La1/3Y1/3Gd1/3)(x)O2-σ with different elements ratio (x = 0.3, 0.45, 0.6, 0.75, 0.9; CZLYGx) were successfully prepared by co-precipitation method. XRD patterns revealed that CZLYG90 exhibited a mixed crystal structure, while the others had single-phase fluorite structures. TEM analysis showed that CZLYG90 nanoparticles had a particle size of about 34 nm. The competitive relationship between entropy and enthalpy favored the stabilization of single-phase multicomponent oxide. The direct band gap value of CZLYGx increased with x, making it a potential optical material.

Microstructure and ferroelectric properties of high-entropy perovskite oxides with A-site disorder

Zhiyong Liu et al.

Summary: High-entropy oxides can be designed as new ferroelectric materials with interesting physical consequences by selecting various elements to achieve a single-phase structure. The high-entropy perovskite ceramics exhibit excellent chemical homogeneity and effectively disorder the symmetry of the crystal structure to achieve a robust ferroelectric polarization. This approach provides additional opportunities to discover and tailor the functional properties in entropy-stabilized ferroelectrics.
