In this study, a series of Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions co-doped NaBaB9O15 phosphors were prepared using the high-temperature solid-state reaction technique. The purity and photoluminescence behavior of the samples were examined. The results showed that the Ce3+ and Tb3+ co-doped NaBaB9O15 samples exhibited intense green emission with high internal quantum efficiency and excellent thermal stability.
We prepared a new series of Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions co-doped NaBaB9O15 phosphors by high-temperature solid-state reaction technique. The purity of phase and the photoluminescence (PL) behavior were examined by using XRD, PL excitation and PL spectra. Under ultraviolet excitation (278 nm), Ce3+ doped NaBaB9O15 samples exhibited an intense emission in the 340-410 nm range, centered at 366 nm due to 4f -> 5d transition, while Ce3+ and Tb3+ co-doped NaBaB9O15 samples mainly explored the typical green emission of Tb3+ corresponding to D-5(4) -> F-7(6), (F5,F4,F3)-F-7-F-7-F-7 transitions due to the presence of an efficient Ce3+ -> Tb3+ energy transfer. Impressively, the NaBaB9O15:Ce3+,Tb3+ green-emitting phosphors not only had high internal quantum efficiency (76%), but also possessed excellent thermal stability (I-423K/I-303K = 86%), making them promising color converters for ultraviolet-excited WLEDs.
