Microporous polythiophene (MPT)-guest complex derived magnetic metal sulfides/carbon nanocomposites for broadband electromagnetic wave absorption

Yingzhi Jiao et al.

Summary: In this study, magnetic metal sulfides/carbon nanocomposites were synthesized and their broadband electromagnetic wave absorption (EWA) properties and mechanisms were investigated. The results showed that these nanocomposites exhibited remarkable absorption performance and could achieve efficient absorption in the range of 10.32-18 GHz. The improved conductance loss, polarization relaxation, and eddy current loss contributed to the high-performance EWA. This research highlights the potential of using MPT-metal complex precursor for the exploration of novel nanocomposite materials in EWA applications.

High-Efficiency Electromagnetic Interference Shielding of rGO@FeNi/Epoxy Composites with Regular Honeycomb Structures

Ping Song et al.

Summary: With the rapid development of fifth-generation mobile communication technology and wearable electronic devices, the need for highly efficient EMI shielding materials has become crucial. In this study, a three-dimensional graphene oxide (GO) with regular honeycomb structure (GH) was constructed using sacrificial template and freeze-drying methods. Amino functionalized FeNi alloy particles (f-FeNi) were loaded onto the GH skeleton followed by in-situ reduction to prepare rGH@FeNi aerogel. The resulting rGH@FeNi/epoxy composites with a low rGH@FeNi mass fraction of 2.1 wt% exhibited a high EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of 46 dB, which is 5.8 times higher than that of rGO/FeNi/epoxy composites with the same mass fraction. The composites also displayed excellent thermal stability and mechanical properties.

A Perspective for Developing Polymer-Based Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Composites

Yali Zhang et al.

Summary: The rapid development of aerospace weapons and equipment, wireless base stations, and 5G communication technologies has increased the demands for polymer-based electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites. However, most of these composites fail to combine high performance and multi-functionality. In response, three possible directions for overcoming these limitations have been proposed, including the construction of efficient conductive networks and the optimization of multi-interfaces for lightweight and multifunction compatibility. This research aims to provide a theoretical basis and technical guidance for the preparation and development of polymer-based EMI shielding composites.

A Novel Strategy in Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing and Shielding Materials Design: Multi-Responsive Field Effect

Yue Zhao et al.

Summary: The use of electromagnetic (EM) devices has become widespread in various fields, but it also brings about issues such as signal pollution and radiation. To tackle these problems, researchers have been working on developing electromagnetic wave absorbing and shielding (EMAS) materials. However, most of the reported materials only possess the EMAS property. In practical applications, materials with excellent tunable absorption bands are needed. This review focuses on different external field-responsive materials and provides a detailed summary of various action mechanisms, materials synthesis methods, and macrostructures. The future trends in developing novel external field-responsive materials are also discussed.
