Refined microstructure and enhanced mechanical properties of AlCrFe2Ni2 medium entropy alloy produced via laser remelting

Tianyi Han et al.

Summary: In this study, a Co-free as-cast AlCrFe2Ni2 medium entropy alloy was remelted by fiber laser to improve its microstructure and mechanical properties, resulting in a significant decrease in grain size and an increase in hardness. The mechanical properties were evaluated by stress-strain relationship obtained from nano-indentation tests data, and the strengthening mechanisms in the laser remelted MEA were quantitatively evaluated to show that dislocation and precipitation are dominant mechanisms.
