Generation of stacking plans for prefabricated exterior wall panels shipped vertically with A-frames

Yujin Lee et al.

Summary: To apply prefabricated wall panels to construction projects in a cost-effective manner, reducing logistics costs is crucial. The authors developed a methodology based on the first fit algorithm to help planners generate stacking plans rapidly and systematically. By applying this methodology to two case projects, they found that it can generate stacking plans with lower reshuffling effort and higher panel stability in a fraction of the time compared to conventional practices.

Empirical Study of Identifying Logistical Problems in Prefabricated Interior Wall Panel Construction

Yujin Lee et al.

Summary: Off-site prefabrication is increasingly popular in the construction industry for its benefits, but logistical costs remain a major barrier. This study focuses on stacking plans for identifying logistical problems with prefabricated interior wall panels and suggests developing a methodology to generate stacking plans on a Pareto optimal surface to address issues related to unstable stacks and reshuffling effort.

Sources of Uncertainties in Offsite Logistics of Modular Construction for High-Rise Building Projects

Yi Yang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and categorize sources of uncertainties (SoUs) affecting offsite logistics in high-rise modular building projects in high-density cities. Through a multicase study method, 30 key SoUs were identified in five areas, showing that most uncertainties arise from offsite logistics processes and planning and control systems. Demand-side SoUs were found to have higher probabilities and impacts, while supply-side SoUs, although less probable, could have significant impacts on offsite logistics.

Schedule Delay Leading Indicators in Precast Concrete Construction Projects: Qualitative Comparative Analysis of Korean Cases

Kyeongwoon Cho et al.

Summary: This study analyzed 19 precast concrete construction project cases from Korea, identifying the relationship between PC project conditions and schedule delays. Through focus groups, the study further investigated the relationship of BIM with other schedule delay factors. The identified leading indicators of PC project schedule delays can help construction managers mitigate schedule delay risks at an early stage.
