D-Alpha-Tocopheryl Poly(ethylene Glycol 1000) Succinate-Coated Manganese-Zinc Ferrite Nanomaterials for a Dual-Mode Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agent and Hyperthermia Treatments

Lin Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, water-soluble amphiphilic vitamin E (TPGS) formulated MZF nanoparticles were synthesized for dual-contrast ability in MRI and magnetically induced hyperthermia against cancer. The TPGS-modified MZF nanoparticles exhibited higher relaxivity than Resovist, and showed potential for hyperthermia treatments.

Gd2O3-mesoporous silica/gold nanoshells: A potential dual T1/T2 contrast agent for MRI-guided localized near-IR photothermal therapy

Yara Kadria-Vili et al.

Summary: A promising clinical trial using gold-silica core-shell nanostructures for near-infrared photothermal therapy of prostate cancer has been reported. In this study, PEGylated Gd2O3-mesoporous silica/gold core/shell nanoparticles were synthesized, which not only have near-infrared photothermal properties but also provide sufficient MRI contrast for visualization at therapeutic doses.

Towards Accurate and Precise Image-Guided Radiotherapy: Clinical Applications of the MR-Linac

James W. Randall et al.

Summary: Advances in image-guided radiotherapy, particularly the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have improved oncologic outcomes and reduced toxicity. The integration of MRI with a linear accelerator in the MR-Linac provides real-time imaging, motion management assessment, and online adaptive therapy, offering potential advantages in different clinical scenarios and enhancing the future role of these machines in clinical workflows.

Impact of magnetic resonance-guided versus conventional radiotherapy workflows on organ at risk doses in stereotactic body radiotherapy for lymph node oligometastases

Anita M. Werensteijn-Honingh et al.

Summary: Compared with conventional CBCT-linac treatments, the online adaptive MR-linac approach showed fewer hard planning constraint violations, but the longer duration of MR-linac treatment sessions negatively impacted the potential dosimetric benefits on bowelbag and duodenum doses.

HSA-MnO2-131I Combined Imaging and Treatment of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma

Ziyu Yan et al.

Summary: Compelling evidence suggests that nanoparticles play a crucial role in cancer therapy. In this study, synthesized NPs using HSA-MnO2 labeled I-131 were used for imaging and therapy for anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. The experimental results provided a feasible solution for combining radiotherapy and dual-model imaging by nanoparticles for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Theranostic AGuIX nanoparticles as radiosensitizer: A phase I, dose-escalation study in patients with multiple brain metastases (NANO-RAD trial)

Camille Verry et al.

Summary: The study assessed the safety and feasibility of combining AGuIX nanoparticles with whole brain radiotherapy for patients with brain metastases, showing no dose-limiting toxic effects and clinical benefits for most patients. Efficient targeting of metastases and correlation between contrast enhancement and tumor response were observed, supporting a potential radiosensitizing effect. Ongoing phase II studies will further evaluate efficacy.
