Robust analogs to the coefficient of variation

Chandima N. P. G. Arachchige et al.

Summary: This study explores the feasibility of using quantile-based measures of relative dispersion as an alternative to the coefficient of variation (CV). The findings suggest that using the interquartile range or the median absolute deviation as robust estimators can yield similar results to the CV, with better robustness to outliers and skewed distributions.

Improving the image quality of DWI in breast cancer: comparison of multi-shot DWI using multiplexed sensitivity encoding to conventional single-shot echo-planar imaging DWI

Gabrielle C. Baxter et al.

Summary: This study compared diffusion-weighted images (DWI) in breast cancer using single-shot echo-planar imaging (ss-EPI) and multiplexed sensitivity encoding (MUSE). Results showed that MUSE-DWI had superior image quality and reduced blurring and distortion in breast cancer compared to ss-EPI-DWI.

Correction of Artifacts Induced by B0 Inhomogeneities in Breast MRI Using Reduced-Field-of-View Echo-Planar Imaging and Enhanced Reversed Polarity Gradient Method

Ana E. Rodriguez-Soto et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of reduced-field-of-view (FOV) acquisition and retrospective distortion correction methods in decreasing distortion artifacts for breast imaging. The results showed that minimal distortion was achieved with RPG applied to reduced-FOV EPI data, with significant improvements in mutual information after distortion correction.

Factors Affecting Image Quality and Lesion Evaluability in Breast Diffusion-weighted MRI: Observations from the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group Multisite Trial (A6702)

Summary: The study confirmed that image quality remains a technical challenge in breast DWI, especially for smaller lesions. After excluding non-evaluable lesions, the accuracy in differentiating benign and malignant lesions improved.
