New highly luminescent 3D Tb(III)-MOF as selective sensor for antibiotics

Gang Li et al.

Summary: A stable 3D metal-organic framework (MOF) has been synthesized and characterized, showing intense green emission and sensitivity towards sulfamethazine (SMZ) as a luminescent sensor. The MOF also exhibits excellent stability and recyclability, and the mechanism of deterioration in luminescence intensity in the presence of antibiotics has been explained through theoretical calculations and Hirshfeld surface analyses.

Series of highly stable Cd(II)-based MOFs as sensitive and selective sensors for detection of nitrofuran antibiotic

Shanhe Zhou et al.

Summary: The misuse of antibiotics has led to global issues, and the synthesis of four new metal-organic frameworks with various topologies has allowed for the detection of 11 types of antibiotics through fluorescence quenching effect, with sample 2 showing sensitive and selective detection for nitrofurantoin (NZF). This highly selective probe behavior towards NZF ions can be maintained even in the presence of other interfering antibiotics.
