Synthesis and characterization of randomly oriented silane-grafted novel bio-cellulosic fish tail palm fiber-reinforced vinyl ester composite

Palaniyappan Sabarinathan et al.

Summary: Chemical silane treatment of FTP fiber effectively removes hydrophilic ingredients, improves the interfacial properties with a hydrophobic matrix, and enhances the mechanical strength of the composite. Silane-treated 30% FTP fiber-reinforced composite shows the highest tensile and flexural strengths due to increased chemical interactions between the fiber and the matrix. Silane-treated bio-FTP fiber is an excellent material for producing biocomposite-based products.

Synergistically improved flame retardancy of the cotton fabric finished by silica-coupling agent-zinc borate hybrid sol

Dan Li et al.

Summary: The sol-gel process is used to improve the thermal oxidation and combustion behaviors of cotton fabrics by covering them with a silica-based film. The SiO2-KH560-ZB hybrid sol, prepared with silica sol, KH560, and ZB, effectively enhances the flame retardancy of the cotton fabrics. KH560 plays a crucial role in coupling the components and increasing compatibility, while ZB, silica sol, and KH560 together show synergistic effects in enhancing flame retardancy.
