Vegetation vulnerability and resistance to hydrometeorological stresses in water- and energy-limited watersheds based on a Bayesian framework

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: This study shows that vegetation in both the Yellow River basin and Pearl River basin is most vulnerable to precipitation stresses, with the vegetation in water-limited areas exhibiting the highest vulnerability under precipitation stresses. Additionally, the study finds that vegetation resistance to precipitation stresses differs between water-limited and energy-limited regions, with water-limited areas showing lower resistance compared to energy-limited areas. The results underscore the importance of considering vegetation sensitivity to hydrometeorological elements in order to develop effective restoration and protection strategies.

Feasibility of Calculating Standardized Precipitation Index with Short-Term Precipitation Data in China

Dongdong Zuo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of calculating the SPI index with short-term precipitation sequences in China, especially in the eastern regions. Higher station density leads to greater accuracy in SPI calculations, while errors mainly stem from inaccuracies in distribution parameter estimations.
