New Green-Ampt model based on fractional derivative and its application in 3D slope stability analysis

Guoguo Liu et al.

Summary: A new Green-Ampt model based on fractional derivatives was proposed in this paper to describe the two-stage infiltration in slopes, showing superior performance compared to traditional models. The proposed model combined with a rigorous 3D limit equilibrium method can provide real-time safety factors of slopes during rainfall, with sensitivity analysis identifying the significant impacts of different parameters on the model.

A simple method for predicting the hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils with different void ratios

You Gao et al.

Summary: Reliable estimation of unsaturated soil hydraulic properties is crucial for various research and engineering projects. The study evaluated hydraulic hysteresis and permeability of unsaturated soil with different void ratios or bulk densities. Results showed that the proposed hysteresis model effectively describes the drying, wetting, and scanning curves at different void ratios, and the permeability model predicts the relative permeability coefficient accurately.

Characteristics of unsaturated soil slope covered with capillary barrier system and deep-rooted grass under different rainfall patterns

Yangyang Li et al.

Summary: Rainfall-induced slope failures in residual soil slopes can be prevented by using slope covers like the capillary barrier system and vegetative cover. The capillary barrier system limits rainwater infiltration, while vegetation increases soil strength. Numerical analyses and field measurements show that the capillary barrier system plays a more significant role than Vetiver grass in maintaining slope stability, especially under delayed and normal rainfall patterns.

Study on the influence of slope height and angle on the factor of safety and shape of failure of slopes based on strength reduction method of analysis

Henok Marie Shiferaw

Summary: Decreasing slope angle and height can increase the factor of safety of slopes, but the rate of increase varies depending on soil type and geometry. The relationship between slope height and angle decrease with the increase in factor of safety is important for efficient slope stability methods. Different types of soil exhibit different rates of increase in factor of safety, and the shape of failure may also change, potentially increasing the risk of slope failure.
