Summary: This study aimed to extract collagen type-I from fish-discarded skin and use it to fabricate biodegradable food packaging films. These films showed high transparency, UV-Vis barrier properties, and excellent antioxidant activities. They were also effective in prolonging the shelf life of mushrooms. Therefore, the extraction of collagen from fish waste for biodegradable food packaging materials is of great importance.
