An efficient synthesis of 4,6-diarylnicotinonitrile-acetamide hybrids via 1,2,3-triazole linker as multitarget microbial inhibitors

Hassan A. El-Sayed et al.

Summary: An efficient and smart approach was used for the design and synthesis of a novel series of nicotinonitrile-1,2,3-triazole-acetamide hybrids. The synthesized compounds showed high activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi, with minimum inhibitory concentrations between 0.5 and 4 μg/ml for bacteria and 0.5 and 8 μg/ml for fungi.

Carbazole-based π-conjugated 2,2′-Bipyridines, a new class of organic chromophores: Photophysical, ultrafast nonlinear optical and computational studies

Ramakrishna Bodapati et al.

Summary: Research on organic chromophores with large two-photon absorption cross-sections based on D-A architecture showed that their fluorescence properties are sensitive to solvent polarity and changes in electron donor functionalities. Experimental results indicated that these chromophores have the potential to be optical switching candidates.

A novel Ru (II) complex with high absorbance coefficient: efficient sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cells

Arezoo Jamshidvand et al.

Summary: A new sensitizer, AJ-01, was introduced and investigated for its application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The synthesized dye was characterized and compared with the commonly used sensitizer N-719, showing higher photovoltaic performance. Additionally, Ab initio calculations were used to clarify the electronic properties and the role of the anchoring ligands in electron transfer to TiO2.

Design of robust 2,2′-bipyridine ligand linkers for the stable immobilization of molecular catalysts on silicon(111) surfaces

Samantha I. Johnson et al.

Summary: The attachment of 2,2'-bipyrdine (bpy) moieties to planar silicon surfaces was investigated, revealing that adventitious chlorine atoms in the organic linker backbone caused instability at very negative potentials. Computational studies showed that structures with fluorine substituents were more stable, while fully non-halogenated structures exhibited the highest stability. Immobilizing a hydrogen-evolving molecular catalyst on a silicon cluster showed that reductively stable linkers enabled robust attachment of catalysts with behavior similar to that in homogeneous solution.
