Insight into the microbial mechanisms for the improvement of composting efficiency driven by Aneurinibacillus sp. LD3

Xiaoyan Wu et al.

Summary: This study explored the microbial mechanisms behind the improved composting efficiency driven by a thermotolerant lignin-degrading bacterium Aneurinibacillus sp. LD3 (LD3). The results showed that inoculating LD3 prolonged the thermophilic period, improved the content of certain components, and enhanced the abundance of thermotolerant and phosphate-solubilizing microbes. Furthermore, LD3 inoculation influenced metabolic function and reduced sequences associated with human disease.

Insight into the synergistic effects of conductive biochar for accelerating maturation during electric field-assisted aerobic composting

Tao Fu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the addition of conductive biochar in biochar-added electric field-assisted aerobic composting significantly shortens compost maturation time by 25%, increases oxygen utilization rate and relative abundance of electroactive bacteria. The synergistic effect of conductive biochar facilitates oxygen utilization by reducing resistance and accelerating electron transfer, proving to be an effective strategy for optimizing the efficiency of EAC.
