Highly luminescent nitrogen doped graphene quantum dots sensitized TiO2 nanorod arrays for enhanced photoelectrochemical performance

Kamalesh Debnath et al.

Summary: The photoelectrochemical properties of N-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) sensitized TiO2 nanorods (NRs) were studied. NGQDs were prepared using a facile and low temperature solvothermal process. TiO2 NRs were grown on FTO-coated glass substrates using a hydrothermal method. The attachment of NGQDs onto TiO2 NRs greatly enhanced the photoresponse and PEC performance. The NGQDs sensitized TiO2 NRs exhibited improved photoconversion efficiency and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency compared to pristine TiO2 NRs.

Study on adsorption performance of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol from aqueous solution onto biochar derived from macroalgae as an efficient adsorbent

Mazen K. Nazal et al.

Summary: The study showed that the efficient adsorbent derived from Sargassum boveanum macroalgae exhibited excellent removal efficiency and capacity for 2,4,6-Trichlorophenol from aqueous solution. The adsorption process followed the Freundlich model and pseudo-second order kinetics, and was found to be spontaneous and endothermic. The BCM adsorbent can remove 60% of TCP from high saline seawater and is reusable for three cycles.

Fabrication, characterization and high photocatalytic activity of Ag-ZnO heterojunctions under UV-visible light

Xiaodong Zhu et al.

Summary: The study showed that Ag modification had negligible impact on the crystal structure and surface properties of ZnO, but effectively suppressed the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. Ag-ZnO photocatalysts exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic activity compared to commercial P25, mainly due to the generation of more O-2(-) radicals at Ag-ZnO heterojunctions.

Optimization of TiO2/ZSM-5 photocatalysts: Energy band engineering by solid state diffusion method with calcination

Xu Duan et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2/ZSM-5 hybrids were developed for the photodegradation of methyl orange in water under UV light using a calcination strategy. The optimal sample, Z-T (450), calcined at 450 degrees Celsius, showed nearly 99% degradation rate for methyl orange due to its uniform distribution, high specific surface area, and efficient charge separation/transfer. The use of calcination not only provides a clean, low-cost, and efficient method for azo dye degradation, but also opens up opportunities for industrial applications of photocatalytic technology.
